On Monday, June 8, 2026, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi formally briefed the IAEA Board of Governors on the strike's consequences. According to Grossi, the drone strike caused "significant structural damage" to the facility:
- The impact damaged part of the fuel reception building, which houses the IAEA safeguards office.

The Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility is a state-of-the-art dry storage site designed to store up to 16,530 used fuel assemblies from Ukraine's operating VVER-1000 and VVER-440 reactors. Built in partnership with US-based Holtec International, the facility only began receiving nuclear fuel at the end of 2023 and was granted its full operating license in May 2026 following a rigorous IAEA inspection.
