SciencePro: China's CAS-Coordinated Full-Stack Academic Research Platform — Skills Marketplace, Agent Marketplace, and Review Automation
Revised 2026-09-26: adds the English-language launch release (Kyodo/PRNewswire, Sept 24) with the platform's data-scale figures and distribution deals, the scienceone.cn product specs (S1-Literature's 170M-document corpus, S1-AgentFactory), and the pricing answer: no public price exists for any tier — the open thread is resolved as "unpublished / sales-led."
Launched September 17, 2026 by Wenge AI (Zhongke Wenge, Beijing) as part of a Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)-coordinated initiative, SciencePro is an "intelligent research decision platform" powered by the ScienceOne Scientific Foundation Model. It is the fullest expression yet of the full-stack national-champion model of a research platform: literature review, innovation assessment (i.e., review automation), a skills marketplace, and an agent marketplace in one institutionally distributed product.1
The pricing answer: three tiers, zero published numbers
The launch release confirms the commercial structure but no prices anywhere:
"To meet the different needs of individual researchers and institutions, SciencePro offers three service models: individual subscriptions, institutional SaaS and on-premises deployment. Individual subscriptions include free and Plus tiers; institutional SaaS provides dedicated team platforms and supporting services; and on-premises deployment enables organisations to configure functional modules within their own environments." — Kyodo/PRNewswire release
As of 2026-09-26 no Plus-tier or institutional price is published on the launch release, scienceone.cn, or scienceone.com.cn. The only forward-looking commercial statement is that Wenge "will… pursue diversified commercialisation pathways." Institutional and on-premises sales are therefore sales-led, and the individual Plus tier is either too early to price publicly or deliberately gated. For Research-Tool Market Segmentation & Price Points, Mid-2026 — and the Verified Capability Limits, slot SciencePro as: free individual tier + unpublished paid tiers behind institutional sales — the opposite of the transparent $7–$104/mo self-serve pricing of Kimi for Financial Services: Moonshot Sells Vertical Research at $7–$104/Month, Wired via MCP to S&P Global and Wind.
On international availability: Wenge distributed the launch internationally via PRNewswire/Kyodo (Sept 24) and maintains English product pages, but neither the release nor the sites states availability outside China. International ambition is signaled, not committed.
The data and capability claims (the moat)
The scale of the proprietary data integration is the headline differentiator:
"The innovation-assessment database currently covers 32 million research-project records, 700,000 industry R&D annual reports, and 270 million papers and patents, incorporating nearly 100 research-evaluation standards." — Kyodo/PRNewswire release
"ScienceHub integrates more than 300 specialised databases, over 2,000 research tools and more than 7,000 research skill modules (Skills). Users can access literature, data and computing tools on demand, and package research methods and analytical workflows as skills to share with the community." — Kyodo/PRNewswire release
Other specifics from the release and the scienceone.cn product pages:
- Agent marketplace: 13 expert agents (quantum-computing simulation, computational materials design, molecular assessment, life sciences) at introductory/advanced/professional levels, "serving users from undergraduate to doctoral level"; institutions can build dedicated agents from their own data, tools and workflows.
- Review automation: project pre-evaluation, proposal review, and manuscript pre-review scored against target journals' review criteria, with revision suggestions — the evaluation step moved before submission, not after.
- Literature scale: S1-Literature runs on 170M global scientific documents, processes 1,000+ papers, and delivers "40k words comprehensive reviews in 2.5 hours"; at the launch event Prof. Qiao Han (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences) cited a 10,000-word review in two hours "while enabling users to verify key citations against the source text."
- Headline case: hydrogen-production catalyst design — "improving catalyst activity by 38% and reducing design time from several months to 30 minutes."
- S1-AgentFactory (formerly S1-ToolChain): 2,000+ scientific tools, custom tool/agent integration "based on standard protocols," reproducible computational environments, applied in 10+ research scenarios.
Distribution: state-coordinated channels, not system-of-record embedding
At the launch event Wenge signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the CAS Talent Exchange and Development Center to push SciencePro into university research and education, plus a tripartite agreement (Beijing Chuanglian Education Investment + Modern Vocational Education Research Institute) for vocational education. This is the Chinese route to institutional distribution — administrative channel agreements coordinated by the state2 — which contrasts with the Western vertical pattern of embedding into the institution's workflow system of record (OpenEvidence in the EHR: Vertical Research Tools Win by Embedding Into the Institution's System of Record — and Now the Hosts Are Embedding Too). Same destination (institutional capture), different mechanism: the channel is the ministry-adjacent coordinator, not the EHR/LMS vendor.
-
An instance of Vertical research software cannot outprice labs that bundle model, data, and workflow. — A CAS-backed lab bundles foundation model, proprietary corpora, workflow skills, and review automation into one product — the lab-owned full stack that undercuts standalone vertical tools. ↩︎
-
An instance of Vertical research AI wins institutions through the channels institutions already run. — Distribution is won through the state-coordinated channel the institution already governs rather than through subscriptions. ↩︎
