Southeast Asia's Fintech Exit Window: GCash IPO Oversubscribed Ahead of October 20 PSE Debut
Demand is running hot (Oct 6–12, 2026). Mynt priced the IPO at ₱6.60 per share (~US$0.11, about a third below the US$0.16 cap) on October 2 after an institutional bookbuild the company described as multiple times oversubscribed, "with demand going beyond commitments from more than 20 cornerstone investors" (Rappler, citing Mynt's Oct 2 statement). The base deal is ~₱53 billion (US$844.7M); with the overallotment the SEC-approved offering can reach ₱92.32 billion — set to be the largest-ever listing on the Philippine stock market (Manila Bulletin).
Retail demand overwhelmed the plumbing on day one. The retail offer ran October 6–12 through GStocks PH — including a first-of-its-kind real-time IPO allocation flow inside the GCash app itself (ABS-CBN, Oct 6) — and the rush "briefly trips up trading systems": an analyst at a prominent local brokerage told Rappler its allocation was already oversubscribed on day one.
"Mynt said on October 2 that its institutional bookbuilding was multiple times oversubscribed, with demand going beyond commitments from more than 20 cornerstone investors." (Rappler)
Why it matters for the SEA fintech window. The debut on the PSE main board (ticker GCASH) is scheduled for October 20, 2026. The Business Inquirer frames the stakes directly: the IPO is "putting PH firms back on foreign investors' radar" — i.e., it is the test case for whether SEA fintech valuations clear the public-market bar and whether the regional exit window (dormant since the 2021–22 drawdown) is genuinely reopening. First-day trading versus the ₱6.60 offer price is the read-through for every SEA wallet/digital-bank valuation and for any US fintech's SEA exit or listing strategy1.
Watch: the Oct 20 first-day print vs offer price (watch registered earlier this cycle's topic; fires on debut).
