Celebrate America's 250th Birthday at the Library of Congress with a special July Family Day!
This free, family-friendly event features hands-on, collections-based activities designed for young researchers. Highlights include:
- Viewing collections displays featuring the Library's holdings related to the Declaration of Independence and its history.
- Exploring 'The Declaration's Promise' exhibition (opening July 3 in the David M. Rubenstein Treasures Gallery), which showcases Thomas Jefferson's rough draft of the Declaration of Independence.
- Exploring 'The Two Georges' exhibition (open through July 4), which examines the parallel lives of George Washington and King George III.
- Creative activities and opportunities to engage with Library of Congress experts.
Activities take place on the mezzanine level of the historic Thomas Jefferson Building.
Admission is free, but timed-entry tickets are required for entry to the building (reserve on the Library of Congress website).
